Expanding into the IT World: Chapter 2 of a 6-Chapter Blog Series

In 2010, I made a pivotal decision to expand my skill set and venture into the field of information technology. Fueled by my passion for technology and the desire to explore new career opportunities, I embarked on a journey that would lead me to acquire various IT certifications, including Ethical Hacker and MS Server. Little did I know that this decision would not only deepen my technical expertise but also open doors to the world of UX design.

Obtaining these certifications proved to be a transformative experience. The Ethical Hacker certification equipped me with the knowledge and skills to assess and fortify the security of computer systems, networks, and applications. On the other hand, the MS Server certification provided a solid foundation for managing and maintaining Microsoft server infrastructure.

Armed with these newfound technical skills, I began actively seeking opportunities to apply my expertise. I explored job openings in companies specializing in technology, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure. The certifications served as a testament to my dedication and commitment to continuous learning, instantly capturing the attention of potential employers.

Before long, offers started pouring in from companies deeply immersed in the technology industry. These opportunities allowed me to put my skills to the test and contribute to meaningful projects alongside talented professionals who shared the same passion for technology and innovation.

Working within these companies provided invaluable exposure to cutting-edge technologies and emerging trends. It broadened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist within the technology landscape. I gained firsthand experience in the realm of data security, the complexities of managing server infrastructure, and the transformative role that technology plays in shaping businesses across diverse industries.

Despite my primary focus being on information technology, my background as a graphic designer continued to influence my work. The combination of my design skills and technical knowledge enabled me to approach problems from a unique perspective, placing equal emphasis on functionality and aesthetics in the solutions I developed.

Reflecting on this period of my career, I am immensely grateful for the decision I made to pursue IT certifications. It not only expanded my horizons but also allowed me to work in companies at the forefront of technology.
